A Program of the Golden Gate Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals
WINNER OF THE 2001 CHARLES R. STEPHENS EXCELLENCE IN DIVERSITY AWARD
The Multicultural Alliance (MCA) is a professional development and networking program of the Association of Fundraising Professional’s Golden Gate Chapter dedicated to fund development professionals that takes into consideration issues of race and ethnicity, class, gender, and sexual orientation as they impact the fund development field and process. Together, we aim to diversify, strengthen and serve not only our own organizations, but the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors of the Bay Area by simply being the very best we can be.
MCA provides monthly educational opportunities, training workshops, timely discussions, and access to other professional development and networking opportunities that enable program participants to hone their essential fund development skills. Past topics have included annual fund planning, budget development, major donor solicitation, grant writing and public speaking within a conscientious framework of cultural sensitivity. In conjunction with these practical applications, we also offer a supportive network for each other as we forge a new era of diverse leadership in the Bay Area philanthropic sector.
MCA’s leadership team consists of graduates and founders of the program who volunteer their time and lend their expertise to ensure the sustainability of the program. The team is diverse in terms of race and ethnicity, class background and sexual orientation. Graduates from the program are encouraged to become actively involved as mentors, advisors to the MCA program, and AFP Golden Gate Chapter Board Members.
